ill and Lori wanted to raise their children in the Sundridge area where they
could have their three daughters involved in a comfortable close community.
Bill and Lori loved being able to take their girls into the stores in town where
everyone took an interest in their well being. At the farm Bill and Lori became
very active adding to it and modernizing, eventually purchasing the 300
acre farm 20 years ago. While Bill continued to work off the farm driving to
Huntsville each day, Lori took on much of the day to day farm work along with
making sure the three girls took advantage of everything the community and
school had to offer. In the last 20 years they have added to the farm four more
times, each time based on friendly discussion with adjoining neighbours. The
farm is now over 1, 000 acres, and the work as well as the woodlot done so far
is the pride and joy of Bill and Lori.
Their youngest daughter Sarah and her husband Xaver moved to the farm over
5 years ago and are an integral part of the family team allowing the farm to
continue to grow. Many larger scale projects have been undertaken now that
there are 4 people all pulling in the same direction. Bill and Lori appreciate
the youthful enthusiasm to continue to grow along with the younger legs to
get this done.
“The family love the community and the
energy and support they are able to share as
they continue to establish roots for future
generations and grow their farm into the
future.”
Hubberts Maple have around 18,000 taps and use all of the latest technology
to ensure maximum yields and the highest of quality in their products. They
have won many awards over the years including 3 World Championships at
the Royal Winter Fair. Bill is sought after as a speaker on maple for information
days and training sessions around the province. The Hubberts sell their
products in local stores as well as others around northern Ontario.
In the end it is all about family and community. Bill and Lori bask in the love of
the 7th generation with two grandchildren, one living on the farm and another
coming to visit frequently. Sarah and Xaver have introduced animals back to
the farm with pigs, sheep, chickens and even the rumor of a cow that may be
here soon.
